Mia Yermeche - HRZN SPOTLIGHT

Mia Yermeche - HRZN SPOTLIGHT

My name is Mia Yermeche, I am nineteen years old and I’m from Bettystown! I am both thrilled and excited to be featured on HRZN Spotlight!

My craft is music, more specifically singing! I’ve been singing since forever. My mum put me into a performing arts school on the weekends when I was about 3 or 4 and ever since then, music has consumed my life. I grew up singing all different styles and genres of music like musical theatre, jazz, pop and even classical but my favourite genre to sing would definitely be RnB!

I feel like everyone loves music in some way shape or form but for me music is EVERYTHING! Music is an escape, it’s a way for me to express myself in ways that I can’t through speech. The joy and relief that I gain from singing is incomparable to anything in the world to me.

Last year, during the first lockdown when boredom was at its peak, I decided to try songwriting and to my surprise I loved it. Songwriting has definitely become one of my favourite things to do and it’s easily now one of my biggest passions. I love music and I couldn’t even begin to imagine my life without it, all I know is that it would be incomplete and unfulfilled.

Without music the world would certainly be a much darker place, music unites people regardless of an individual's background, music is, in my opinion, the world's true universal language.

In April of this year, I released the first song I ever wrote ‘Butterflies’ and I was so overwhelmed by the feedback and support that I received, I look forward to releasing more original music soon! I use social media as an outlet to post videos of myself singing both covers and originals and also to connect with people who share the same passions that I do.

By putting myself out there it allows me to gain opportunities and share my music. It was through Instagram that I was contacted and given the opportunity to take part in the television competition show ‘The Big Deal’. That whole experience and opportunity was like a dream! I got to experience so much that I have only ever dreamt of, for example performing on the 3arena stage was so surreal and an experience that I will cherish forever!

I feel like I move beyond limits by continuously pushing myself and working hard at my craft so that I can be the best version of me, you can always get better at something and there is nothing that isn’t to be learned! I have learned to always say yes to every opportunity that comes my way regardless of any fears or doubts that I may have because without motion there won't ever be any progress. ‘A life lived in fear is a life half lived’. I am very proud of myself for putting myself out there when it comes to my music, at first it was definitely a struggle but I have come to learn that confidence and courage is something that just takes time and patience. Everyday is a new opportunity to learn and to work harder than the day before.
